Bulk Uploading Locations to a Map in Mapulus.

Learn how to use Maplus to bulk upload locations on a custom Mapulus map.

Mapulus offers a convenient method for bulk importing multiple locations to a map, allowing you to efficiently populate your map with a large number of location markers. This guide will walk you through the steps to bulk import locations to a map in Mapulus.

Prerequisites:

  1. An active Mapulus account.
  2. Access to the Mapulus map where you want to bulk import locations.

Steps to Bulk Import Locations to a Map:

  1. Log in to your Mapulus account: Start by logging in to your Mapulus account using your credentials (username and password).

  2. Navigate to Your Map: After logging in, navigate to the map where you want to bulk import locations. Your maps can be found in your account dashboard.

  3. Open the Map Add Menu: On the map’s page, locate the “+ Add” menu. This is a button in the top left with a plus icon that, when clicked, expands to display various options related to your map.

  4. Choose Bulk Import Option: In the expanded map add menu, look for the “Import Locations” option. Click on it to initiate the bulk import process.

  5. Prepare Your Location Data: Before proceeding with the bulk import, ensure that your location data is in a compatible format. Mapulus supports CSV (comma-separated values) for bulk location imports. Create or organize your data in a spreadsheet with each location’s details in separate columns. The required columns for the CSV file should include:

    • lat: The latitude of the location.
    • lon: The longitude of the location.
    • title: The title or name of the location.
    • label: A short label that will appear above the location marker on the map.
    • address: The exact physical address of the location.

    • Please note that at least a valid latitude and longitude or an address must be provided in the CSV file. Other fields are optional but can be included to provide more details about the locations.
    • You can download an example CSV here.
  6. Import Your Location Data: In the bulk import modal, click on the “Choose File” button to select the CSV file containing your location data. Browse your computer to find the file. Select the Layer you would like to add the Locations and then click the “Upload” button to initiate the import process.

Note: The import process will be performed in the background, and locations will begin to appear on the map as they are processed. If there are any errors encountered during geocoding the address provided in the CSV, the location will appear with an [!] icon next to it in the side menu.

If an error occurs, you can adjust the address for that location in the sie menu. Simply click on the locations, and a nmenu will appear where you can modify the address. Once you make the necessary adjustments, the system will reattempt to geocode the location.

If you encounter multiple errors during the import process, you can review and address them individually to ensure accurate location placement on the map.

Congratulations! You have successfully bulk imported multiple locations to your Mapulus map. This method saves time and allows you to populate your map efficiently with location markers.
